Changes in NIE Delivery for 2008-2009

In light of the current economic downturn and funding limitations, NIE was forced to make major changes to delivery of print bundles for the rest of the school year.

Print bundle delivery to high schools stopped on April 1 and to middle schools on April 3, 2009. Elementary schools continue to receive print bundles of newspapers until May 22, 2009.

NIE can set up an online accounts for school libraries, computer labs, curriculum departments or individual teachers to make up for the loss of print papers. Over 100 schools already have online accounts in some configuration. Many schools have more than one account. Each school needs to decide how best to set up the configuration based on computers available and where located.

We are sorry to have to do this but want to keep the NIE program functioning until funding increases. We had to make these cuts at this time.

All NIE deliveries to schools (PRINT AND ONLINE) will end May 22, 2009, the Friday before Memorial Day.

There also will be no delivery over the summer for year-round schools or summer schools of either PRINT or ONLINE.

If there are any questions or your school would like an online account set up before the end of the year, please let me know via email so that we can do it as soon as possible.

We anticipate NIE will operate in the fall but what will be offered to schools has yet to be determined. As changes are made we will let you know. Keep checking back to this page for updates.

Please feel free to call the office at any time with questions -- 383-4655 or email at nie@reviewjournal.com.
